Where is Kaatsheuvel?

Kaatsheuvel is a small town in the province of North Brabant in the south of the Netherlands. It is within easy reach of several large cities and major transport links…making it a very popular base for visiting the region, especially the very nearby Efteling Theme Park.

Kaatsheuvel is 286km from Calais Ferry Port, which is around a 3 and a half hour drive. It is 102km from the Hook of Holland, which is around a 1 and a half hour drive. Perfect if you are thinking of having a road trip adventure to Efteling with the kids.

The closest airport is Eindhoven Airport, which is about 40km away.

To help you make the most of your stay, here are the Top 5 Things To Do With Kids near Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel…all tried, tested and guaranteed to make your family trip unforgettable

1. Spend a Magical Day at Efteling Theme Park

No family trip to Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel is complete without a visit to Efteling, one of Europe’s most enchanting theme parks. Unlike fast-paced modern theme parks, Efteling is filled with old-world magic, storybook charm and beautifully designed attractions that feel straight out of a fairytale.

For little ones, the Sprookjesbos (Fairytale Forest) is a dream come true…walking paths lead you past talking trees, dancing puppets and classic tales brought to life in the most whimsical ways. Older children (and parents!) will love thrilling rides like Joris en de Draak, Baron 1898, and Python. Family favourites and dark rides not to be missed include Fata Morgana, Symbolica and Droomvlucht.

Make sure to stay for the evening water show Aquanura. With music, fountains and lights, it’s the perfect way to wind down after an exciting day. Pack comfortable shoes, arrive early, and use the Efteling app to navigate wait times like a pro.

Why kids love it: Real-life fairytales, exciting rides, and amazing shows.
Great for: All ages.

2. Explore the Loonse en Drunense Duinen National Park

Just steps away from Marvilla Parks, Loonse en Drunense Duinen is one of the Netherlands’ most unique landscapes…often called the “Dutch Sahara.” This national park covers vast stretches of open sand, forest trails, heathland and rolling dunes, giving kids endless room to play, explore and burn off energy.

It’s the perfect contrast to a busy theme-park day. Bring a ball, a picnic, or even toy diggers…the dunes are basically nature’s giant sandbox. If your family enjoys walking or cycling, there are well-marked routes for all ages. Rent bikes at the park and make a full day of it, or enjoy a peaceful sunset walk while the kids run free.

It’s simple, it’s beautiful, and it’s often a highlight for families who want a touch of nature in between the busier attractions.

Why kids love it: Space to run wild, explore nature and play in the sand.
Great for: Nature-loving families, active kids.

3. Go on a Real-Life Safari at Beekse Bergen

If your children love animals, Safaripark Beekse Bergen is an absolute must. Only around 20 minutes from Marvilla Parks, this wildlife park offers something truly special…you can explore by car, boat, bus, or on foot, making it feel like a real safari adventure right in the Netherlands.

Drive through plains where giraffes stroll past your car windows, watch lions lounging under the trees, and admire zebras, rhinos and countless other animals in spacious, natural habitats. The boat safari offers a relaxed perspective with plenty of photo opportunities, while the walking routes include educational presentations and play areas.

It’s a full day out, so pack snacks and drinks…but you’ll love how immersive and memorable the experience is for kids of all ages.

Why kids love it: Giraffes walking past your car!
Great for: Animal lovers and little explorers.

4. Visit the Quirky Oliemeulen Zoo

If you’re looking for something different…something smaller, more intimate, and a little quirky…then Oliemeulen Zoo in Tilburg is perfect. Originally a reptile house, this family-run attraction has grown into a charming mix of reptiles, mammals, birds and interactive animal presentations.

Kids get the chance to learn about snakes, lizards, owls and even less-common species they won't usually see in big zoos. Daily shows often include demonstrations where children can touch or gently interact with certain animals (always supervised), which adds a fun hands-on element.

Because the zoo isn’t enormous, it makes a great half-day trip…ideal for younger children or for downtime between bigger excursions like Efteling or Beekse Bergen. It’s educational, interesting and surprisingly full of character.

Why kids love it: Reptile encounters and interactive shows.
Great for: Curious kids, shorter outings.

5. Enjoy Family Time at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel with Eurocamp Itself

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel is that there’s plenty of fun right on your doorstep. The park features indoor and outdoor swimming pools, playgrounds, sports areas, green spaces and an on-site restaurant…making it easy to enjoy a stress-free family day without travelling anywhere.

Kids adore the freedom to swim, play and explore safely within the park. It’s also the perfect place for parents to relax: sit on your terrace with a coffee while the kids enjoy the playgrounds, or take an easy stroll through the park’s landscaped pathways.

On a longer holiday, it’s essential to have “rest days”...and Eurocamp provides exactly the right mix of calm and entertainment for families who want to recharge without feeling like they’re missing out.

Why kids love it: Swimming, playing, and total freedom.
Great for: Rest days and easy family fun.

Family Travel Tips for Visiting Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel with Eurocamp

Planning a family holiday is so much easier when you know the little things that make a big difference. Here are some practical, parent-approved travel tips to help you make the most of your stay at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel and the surrounding attractions.

1. Book Efteling Tickets in Advance

Efteling can get busy, especially during weekends and school holidays. Booking tickets online not only saves time at the entrance but sometimes saves money too. Arrive early to enjoy shorter queues and cooler temperatures in summer. Enjoy 2 days at the park if you can afford it.

2. Use the Efteling App to Plan Your Day

Download the official Efteling app for real-time ride wait times, show schedules and interactive maps. It’s a major time-saver and helps you avoid criss-crossing the park with tired kids.

3. Bring Layers (Even in Summer)

The Netherlands is beautiful…but famously unpredictable weather-wise. Mornings can be cool, afternoons warm, and evenings breezy. Pack layers, waterproof jackets and extra socks for kids who will find puddles or sand.

4. Rent Bikes for Easy Exploring

Eurocamp offers bike rentals, including kids' bikes and e-bikes. It’s the easiest way to explore the dunes and nearby paths without relying on the car. Plus, kids love the freedom it gives them.

5. Pack Snacks and Water Bottles

Whether you're visiting Efteling, Beekse Bergen or heading into nature, having snacks on hand is a lifesaver. Most attractions allow you to bring your own food, which is great for picky eaters or stretching the holiday budget.

6. Take “Rest Days” to Avoid Burnout

It’s tempting to pack the trip full of activities, but kids (and parents!) need downtime. Plan a slower day in between big outings…swim at Eurocamp, visit the playgrounds or enjoy a lazy picnic in the dunes.

7. Bring Strollers or Carriers for Younger Kids

Efteling and Beekse Bergen both involve a lot of walking. A stroller or baby carrier makes a massive difference, especially if you’re staying for shows or exploring the larger areas of the parks.

8. Keep an Eye on Dutch School Holiday Dates

If possible, avoid peak Dutch school holidays when attractions are busiest. If your dates are fixed, just arrive early and plan your “priority” activities for the morning.

9. Try Local Dutch Treats

Kids love discovering new foods…treat them to poffertjes (mini pancakes), stroopwafels, or a classic Dutch pancake at Polles Kitchen in Efteling. These make for fun foodie memories.

10. Bring Sand Toys for the Dunes

The Loonse en Drunense Duinen is basically a natural playground. A ball, bucket, spade, or even toy diggers can keep kids entertained for hours while adults enjoy some quiet time in a scenic setting.

A family break at Marvilla Parks Kaatsheuvel is all about making memories…whether that’s watching your kids’ faces light up in Efteling, spotting giraffes on safari, or enjoying simple moments splashing in the pool. With so many fun activities right on your doorstep, it’s easy to fill your days with adventure while still having plenty of time to relax.

No matter how you choose to explore, these top kid-friendly activities ensure your holiday is full of laughter, discovery and special moments together. If you’re planning your trip now, save this list…your next great family adventure is waiting just outside your holiday home.
